Mean Green Football Back to Fouts Field

Apogee Stadium to undergo construction.

Mean Green football is on the rise, literally. Construction restarted on Apogee Stadium earlier this month after Athletics Director Rick Villarreal got approval from the University of North Texas to rebuild the current home of the Mean Green.

“Last year we won the Heart of Dallas Bowl, so clearly we’re the best team in college football. The best team deserves the best stadium, and that’s exactly what we’re going to give them,” said coach Dan McCarney.

The designs have not yet been finalized, but sources say the new stadium will look identical to the Cowboys AT&T Stadium.

One player commented, “We have to play at Fouts Field until it’s built in 2020. I was told this was a good thing from my coach. Coach is never wrong. Football.”

It is not clear how UNT appears to pay for the new upgrades, but the move will be a substantial downgrade, as Fouts Field only seats 10,500 people. So make sure you get your tickets quickly, they are going fast.
